In this air (act 2 of original version of "La statue"), desperate Margyane, facing the prospect of being forced to marry her own old uncle, calling heaven for help, dedicates her affection to the one and only young man (Sélim) whom she met once before in the desert but was separated from by fate.
It is arranged here for soprano solo with piano accompaniment. Notice that sound sample recording uses oboe solo instead of human voice, as it is adopted in all my recordings for that opera using the GPO instrument samples. |
