Description |
This is the "Divertissement" ballet music from act 3 of "Sigurd" by Ernest Reyer, written explicitly for the Great Paris Opéra production in 1885. Its rarity and uniqueness is that it is frequently than not notoriously skipped from any known (infrequent) contemporary productions of that opera, perhaps for the reason of dramatic continuity or timing ("Sigurd" without cuts would be over four hours long).
Anyway, whatever the reason is its worth to hear it at least outside of usual opera productions. So I found it prudent to present it here for the hearing public in this (probably) the first ever recording of it, in piano solo reduction score arranged by Paul Vidal. |
